In Loving Memory of Amy

Today I said goodbye to my best friend, Amy.

Amy was so much more than a dog. She was my family, my companion, and one of the greatest loves of my life. She had the kindest eyes I’ve ever seen. They were gentle, full of love, and somehow always knew exactly how to comfort me.

From the very beginning, Amy was special. She was the youngest puppy in her training class by far, but you never would have guessed it. She learned every new trick almost as soon as it was taught and amazed everyone with how smart she was. She was eager to learn, eager to please, and so proud of herself when she got it right. Watching her grow was one of life’s greatest gifts.

If there was one thing Amy loved most, it was playing fetch. She never seemed to get tired of chasing after a ball, bringing it back, and waiting with excitement for me to throw it again. She found so much happiness in those simple moments, and seeing her run with pure joy is a memory I’ll treasure forever.

Amy was there through so many seasons of my life. She celebrated my happiest moments and quietly stayed beside me through my hardest ones. She never asked for anything except love, and she gave it back a thousand times over. She had a way of making even the toughest days feel a little lighter just by being close.

These last few days were heartbreaking. Watching her grow tired and lose her strength reminded me that our time together was coming to an end. Loving her meant giving her peace, even though it was the hardest goodbye I’ve ever had to say.

When I think of Amy, I won’t remember the sadness of today. I’ll remember the brilliant little puppy who amazed everyone in training class, the determined girl who could never get enough of fetch, and those impossibly kind eyes that made me feel loved every single day.

Thank you, Amy, for your loyalty, your intelligence, your endless joy, and your unconditional love. Thank you for every game of fetch, every quiet moment together, and every memory you’ve left in my heart.

Run fast again, sweet girl. Chase every ball. Be free from pain. Until we find each other again, you’ll always be missed, always be loved, and never be forgotten.
