Gus. Goober. Gus the Bus. Gussy. Thank you for letting me love you your whole life. You were always a mama's boy. Fiercely protective, endlessly loyal, and difficult in all the best ways. You made your opinions known, kept us on our toes, and loved with your whole heart. The house will be unbearably quiet without you in It.
People were always walking right up to you asking to pet you because you were so pretty and had the sweetest, most endearing face. So many people asked where I got you or told me how pretty you were. You turned heads everywhere you went. Eventually I had to put you in a vest that said it for me: "Bodyguard, yes I do bite."
You loved hard. You guarded the people you loved hard.
You loved swimming and chasing your ball more than anything.
There will never be another dog like you.
I hope you're running free with your dog mommy Scout again, healthy and happy, and free.
You were loved beyond words your entire life, Gus, and you will be missed beyond words for the rest of mine.
